I have known and worked with Merran professionally within Speld NZ for many years and regard her very highly as a knowledgeable and comprehensive, progressive and up-to-date assessor and teacher. Her long experience as both classroom and specialist teacher and assessor in the field of specific learning difficulties, informs her work valuably in both domains. Her practical teaching experience is precisely what makes her assessments, interpretations, insights, and recommendations so much more valuable than those of assessors who do not teach, in my opinion and experience. Merran embraces her work with academic vigour, an open mind and intellectual curiosity. She is a warm, engaging and generous person who brings empathy and humour to her work, helping her students along a path to achievement.
Merran has been teaching our 8-year-old daughter Cracking the ABC Code. Merran exudes knowledge, enthusiasm and practicality. Our daughter has responded very well to Merran's approach an encouragement, we have seen growth in her reading and writing and in her confidence. Merran has taught our daughter through Zoom while NZ has been in Covid19 lockdown so that no lessons were interrupted, and the learning could continue. This was something new to her, and she has made it work seamlessly. We feel very grateful to have had the opportunity to work with Merran and would unconditionally recommend her to any parents wanting to help their child learn better.
Merran is a registered assessor of SLD and has vast knowledge in this area. She also relates very well to all people.
