Practice Activities

These activities introduce the student to the capital version of letters being learned in the unit. Capital letters are used at the beginning of sentences and at the beginning of proper nouns. At the same time it provides further practice in recognising the letters being learned.

 Day 1

  • The student matches the upper and lowercase letters.
  • It is recommended that the student says the letter sound and the picture cue at the same time (e.g., /n/-nut) to provide further reinforcement.

Day 2

  • The student writes the capital letter next to the lowercase letter.
  • It is recommended that the student says the letter sound and the picture cue at the same time (e.g., /n/-nut) to provide further reinforcement.

Day 3

  • The student writes the lowercase next to the capital letter.
  • It is recommended that the student says the letter sound and the picture cue at the same time (e.g., /n/-nut) to provide further reinforcement.

Day 4 & 5

  • The student writes the lowercase and capital letter next to each picture.
  • It is recommended that the student says the letter sound and the picture cue at the same time (e.g., /n/-nut) to provide further reinforcement.
