Description

The Multisensory Reading Program Level 3B is a 12 unit course designed for students who are having difficulty learning to read, including those with dyslexia. It uses ‘science of reading ‘ principles to systematically introduce the more complex phonemes and their common graphic forms using a multisensory format.

The program consists of 6 interlinking sections:

  • General Knowledge
  • Phoneme and Vocabulary Development
  • Comprehension
  • Oral Reading
  • A chunking activity containing the focus grapheme(s) which teaches students how to break words into smaller units to reduce the load on working memory
  • A phonological processing activity as this is a skill that underpins reading and spelling.

It has been designed so that each section complements and reinforces the other sections, and utilises techniques based on current literacy and memory research.

It is assumed that students know the basic sound-symbol relationship of the alphabet and have some knowledge of the more common digraphs.  However, the program uses more challenging vocabulary compared to Level 3A.

It is recommended that students have a reading accuracy age of between 7 to 8 years.

We have seen a noticeable improvement in my daughter’s reading speed, accuracy and confidence.

My son, who is dyslexic and in Year 4, is going fantastically on the program. We are up to Week 3 and he seems to be retaining everything well. The program is very user friendly and exactly what he needs. I am very excited to continue and see where it takes us.

I am finding this book very helpful, thank you. My son has ASD, SLI and ADD and struggles to decode multi-syllable words which has a negative impact on his comprehension. Because of his SLI he missed important information in his lower primary years like all the different vowel sounds and find this book very helpful to revise and learn them again. I also find the general knowledge page very useful.

I can not thank you enough!! My beautiful girl is dyslexic and has auditory processing disorder and she has absolutely blossomed with your book. She has gained so much confidence and enjoys going to school now because each day she is gaining a better understanding of something she has been struggling with for a long time, Thank you!!!!

Today my son said, “This is hard, but fun,” and “I already think this is helping my learning.” This is really is exciting for my son to say this. Anything reading related generally results in lots of anger, including when I did RAVE O with him last year. So thank you for putting something together which is both straightforward and enjoyable. I like that you have used real and interesting words rather than simplifying the vocabulary so much that, first, kids aren’t decoded, and, secondly, they lose interest.

This is such an amazing program and I am so impressed with it so far. The timing component has been challenging, but when my daughter achieves her goal she is so proud of herself. It’s great for her to have something to strive for.
