My son is doing your program and I notice that you don’t use the unjumble words part of this app. Our school use soundwaves. The soundwaves program unjumbles words. Should I not be getting my son to unjumble words in soundwaves?

Hi Gloria – I’m not sure that there is a lot of value in unjumbling letters as really the focus is just on trying to remember the visual order of letters rather than making a connection between the sounds in a word and the letter(s) representing those sounds.
I would recommend that when your son is working on the unjumbling activity, that tell him the word and then ask him to identify the sounds in the word and then find the letter(s) representing those sounds. Alternatively, you can discuss common letter patterns that could be formed from the letters (e.g., n, g, i can make the suffix ing) in the jumbled word and then relate this back to the word list.
